The question is why? It's not the money, Bezos could run the paper with the money he finds between the cushions of his private jet. The only answer is that he is afraid that Trump will cut off those sweet sweet government contracts for AWS. What he needs to be afraid of is US, we the people, who are tired of him, his plastic fantastic wife, and all of the other oligarchs who suck up to Trump. If enough of us stop buying on Amazon and cancel Amazon Prime, he will feel the pain where it hurts the most - his wallet.

I dropped my Wapo subscription like the proverbial stone when Sargent and you were out. It was the last indication I needed to see that Wapo was not going back to what it had been. I had spent some extended time with Carl Bernstein around 2000. I felt that it was an honor just to meet him – and I told him so – because he, Woodward, Bradley and Graham along with the NY Times brought down a corrupt, unlawful president and his equally corrupt fixers to change America for the better. But it became clear when the blood letting at the Bezos Post carried forward that an era in American journalism was evacuated and it was not worth reading, much less supporting with a subscription. Thank you, Paul for carrying on.
