Thank you, Paul

Remember: ...

The purpose of Corporate Media today is to MAKE MONEY for the already super-rich, and to entrench their power.

Close political races make by far the most profit... so the corporate media ARTIFICIALLY MAKE THE RACES CLOSE, unethically.

Truth rarely makes a profit.

Before the end of the Fairness Doctrine, news departments competed on accuracy and honour, since none of them made money on news.

The Media today are destroying the planet just as surely as Big Oil, for outrageous, unethical greed

Yep.

It’s all about the Benjamin’s and they wonder why they’re losing subscribers. I, for one, cancelled WAPO. Couldn’t stand the both sides bullshit.

The sad thing is they lose far more subscribers than they gain. NYT too. Shameful.

They don’t know anything about policy and they’re bored by it because they’re all wealthy and nothing affects them. They want to ask Harris “Donald Trump tweeted this about you two hours ago what do you say?”

You know how I know this? They’ve had four years to ask Joe Biden as many meaty policy questions as they want. They still could! He’s still president, though not a candidate. But they don’t.

You are right that they don’t care to hear about policy. Hillary talked about policy in all of her campaign rally speeches and spoke about creating good paying jobs for working and middle class voters more than Trump or even Bernie yet post-election media analyses showed the public had no idea about that or any of her policy proposals. That was because the media chose to report about the bogus email scandal, not policy. The one time they did bother to cover a speech about policy it was only to take one sentence out of context to make her look callous about the plight of coal mining communities which the polar opposite of the clear meaning of her statement. This article details the media’s phony outrage:

“Hillary Clinton’s “coal gaffe” is a microcosm of her twisted treatment by the media

She navigated a hall of mirrors.”

This was not an aberration. The WaPo’s revered “Dean of Washington Journalists” David Broder complained that Gore had talked too much about what he would do if elected — in his acceptance speech!

This demand for policy proposals is not sincere. It’s a trap, designed to get Harris to be specific enough so they can nitpick her with their “fact”-checking or, better yet, twist something she might say “inartfully” to make her sound like a phony and get headlines — just like they did to Hillary.

Don’t get me started on what they did to Hillary and Gore, especially Hillary. If that election were about policy, she would have won. If it were about personalities and who is less of a toxic weirdo, she would have won. They had to invent fictional versions of her and Trump, and drag Trump over the line.

When she announced her campaign, she led Trump by 30 points on the question of who is more trustworthy. By Election Day, they were tied on that question. So my question for our wealthy media class is, why? What actual facts did you find out in that year and a half that closed the gap? Especially given that Trump (deep breath) SETTLED A FRAUD LAWSUIT FOR $25 MILLION BEFORE NOVEMBER 2016 WAS OVER?

I guess I got started. I’ll stop now, except to remind you how many men covered that campaign who turned out to be sexual harassers. Not just “I’ve heard some things about that guy” guys—actual “lose your seven-figure job” guys.

Spot on. The scales have fallen from my eyes regarding corporate media. They pretend to care, but behave as if their profits and feelings are of utmost concern. The literal weeks of above-the-fold headlines about Biden's mental state while sane-washing (love that term) Trump's insane blathering demonstrates it clearly. The credibility of these "news" sources is shot and they are no longer worth my time or money.

That's why it's so shocking and refreshing when a journalist (usually foreign or independent) like Jonathan Swan (or our Paul Waldman) actually acts like he deserves real answers during an interview and not lies or meaningless blather.

They will do to Harris what they did to Biden - cripple those who will not bow and fawn

As far as I'm concerned all the corporate media can go fuck straight off. They haven't done a decent job since drumpf was elected in 2016 and they just continue to get worse. Kamala is running her campaign exactly right by mostly ignoring the corporate press. Appeasement never works and she's smart enough to see that. I've canceled my subscriptions to the NYT and WaPo and put that money towards supporting quality writers on Substack. Money well spent.
