I second the first commenter, so "what to do?" And I agree that flooding the zone with our own shit is NOT the answer. Unfortunately, it seems that no one has an answer. The utopian promise of the internet and social medial has been entirely overrun by the worst of human nature. It has created a culture where anyone can be (and everyone wants to be) a 'celebrity.' Entire generations (plural!!) now believe that real life is to be found within the boundaries of their screens. The genie is out of the bottle, but no one has an idea of how to control, regulate, or limit its power (or the power of the people who social media platforms).
Well, from the comments so far (including this one (mine: stay tuned) we are not going to get much help here. The "left" seems to believe that if we just shout dirty words at them they will...not go away apparently...feel bad, or what is the same thing..feel good ourself for a moment.
Trouble is, we never had the truth either, except perhaps in a moral sense...which doesn't make the trains run on time. (allusion not meant for Mussolini...I just meant solve problems or make things work). On the other hand, our elected representatives, however much they lie to us (both parties), seem up to now have done a reasonably good job running the country. I don't mean nothing ever ugly or stupid happens, but on the whole the thing keeps running.
That appears likely to change. I see no evidence the Trumpers know anything, or that they care. They seem bent on not just confusing us, but on breaking things. If they think they can emerge from the chaos with their thousand year Reich firmly established, I think they will be surprised that they can't put the machine back together so that it works even for them.
we know that the Old South did not work very well. The planters could make a lot of money from slave labor, but it was not the Framers so much who put slavery on the way to extinction as it was the planters destroying the earth the way they farmed..having to move ever westward to find new land until they ran out of arable land. And, I suppose, seeing the handwriting on the wall, attempted to bully the "free" states into allowing them (the planters) to bring their slaves into the free states where they could use those slaves to join the industrial revolution at the expense of arguably free labor and the industrialists who knew how to work with free labor.
Lincoln understod that, but without the zeal of the (mostly religious) anti-slavery movement and the patriotism (a constant in life*) of the citizens of the "union," i wonder if he would have been able to save us at least until the next great attempt by those who like slavery to take over the world.
Look around, Do you see anyone as smart as Lincoln, or people willing to die to end slavery or to save the union: the last best hope?
*people naturally love their country: the land they live on and the people they know, and the ideals they believe in. it has been the eternal work ot the slavers to change "patriotism" to mean ready to kill the people we tell you are going to take away everything you love."
Your argument is well received here, and I have been saying the same thing for who knows how many fucking years. You can not impose logical solutions on an emotional illogical fallacious supposition. Trump convinced 80 million people that they would not be affected by his removal of all aspects of the Constitution, and repeal of all social net services, The irony is that the most likely adversly affected by his doom, and gloom are the poor sad ugly fat dumb sick fucks who believed that the grammar school nurse will change their son Bobby to daughter Roberta at recess. National laws and the moral compass of the nation are going to be determined by the direction of an erect penis? The Democrats do not get it, and they, and their cabal continue to be an arrogant.,officious, unattractive, dogmatic, and closely knit do alike, talk alike ,think alike group of boorish buffoons. They have forever and successfully alienated all those different than they.... those who do not think the annointed thoughts, eat the chosen foods, live in right house, or drive the proper car. They bitch about legacy news, and have nothing but disdain for the truly venerable news sources: Reuters, The Economist, BBC, UPI, AP. They want to get laid on the first date, have no sense of history, and get their news from that fighter maggot Joe Rogan, who maarried the best piece of ass at a truck stop diner waitress pool. That alien masturbator becomes the one with the keys to the Kingdom of Knowledge. WTF? The Democrats will never again be a national party unless they can mix it up, draw blood and fight fire with more fire, and if that is not always taking the high ground, and doing the "right thing" Better sooner than later
I used to think the point of protests was to make people aware of your issue and convince them to change their minds. How do you do that in a world where facts don't matter?

Calamity counteracts chaos (as well as spreading it). Maybe we'll be healed by an invasion from Mars ...
