I left a comment over on Threads about this very "issue" and having a sense of humor. Although getting a ton of "likes" has been gratifying, the utter RW lack of mirth, self-deprecation, or (let's face it) humility is one of the great tragedies of the modern so-called conservative party. Sargent Hulka got it right years ago when he said, "Lighten up, Francis."
Re the astute observation: "in fact it’s the right’s rage-mongers who are on a constant hair-trigger to take offense on behalf of white people everywhere."
Yep, no one is more woke, that is, respectful and considerate of othered populations, than the bigot--because his power depends entirely on stamping out this fire before it catches.
4 grandparents from Sweden - but same story - including paprika on the deviled eggs. I very much relate to Walz and white person tacos. Life got spicier when I left home. First date with my husband 30 some years ago and he takes me to Indian and orders lamb vindaloo...
One can be white and have regional tastes without being a racist. Besides, most of what passes for Mexican food in the US is not exactly Mexican. Personally, I don't like most Indian cuisine, and I find Pakistani food even worse (I lived there for a month 18 years ago and was as sick as a dog the whole time). This does not mean I am prejudiced against Indians or Pakistanis. Let's just get off this trivial crap and not even respond to it. It's just the right wing once again showing how threatened they are by Tim Walz.
I went with some friends to San Francisco. While we were there, we went to a Thai restaurant -it was near Chinatown so I assumed we'd be getting "authentic" Thai food. (I looked around and we were practically the only Caucasians in the restaurant). So when the waiter asked for spice level on a scale of "1 to 5" I said "2". One of my friends was set to order it very spicy at a "5". I talked her down off the ledge and she ordered her dish as a "3". She still ended up with beads of sweat running down her brow and she may have been wheezing a little as she ate. She later thanked me for reminding her that spicy meant different things to different people
Ben Shapiro defines the term 'Douche Bag with a stick up his butt'

I'm Irish American. (Four Irish grandparents.)
The joke in my family was we had salt, we had pepper and we had paprika for deviled eggs and potato salad.
Paprika was our spice.
My aunt's Italian friend convinced my grandmother to try garlic salt to make garlic bread. And that's as far as garlic made it into my house.
So I understand where Tim Walz is coming from.
What he's not doing is claiming he loves spicy food when he means sweet peppers not habaneros. Or ghost peppers.
I had forgotten how relaxing it is to watch someone be comfortable in their lane.

My best friend is Indian and it took me six months to convince her mother that dal wouldn't kill me.
😁
How was the lamb?
I’m cooking the governor’s turkey trot tater tots hot dish tonight!
They're not mad, they cosplay being mad. The MSM cosplays at believing them.
Self-deprecating humor. It could be the Dems secret weapon.

I was in Nepal with a group of Midwesterners and they warned me the food was too spicy.
My best friend is Indian and her mom spice proofed me early. So I had to explain to both them and the waiter this was the mild version.
